365 - Day 228

1.   Finally feeling better and able to eat something.

2.  My boy was perfectly content with his sicky Mommy dosing on the couch while he played with his puzzles and put hats on my head all day.  Love that little guy.

3.  A new Glee.

365 - Day 227

Pretty sure I came down with food poisoning.  I spent the evening puking my guts out and laying pathetically in bed.

1.  My husband, for taking care of the kids and letting me sleep.

2.  My girl, for climbing into bed with me, running her fingers through my hair, and trying to make me feel better.

3.  My boy, for being such a big boy and being very close for me to say he's fully potty trained!  He's gone the last 4 days in chones (other than bed or nap) and hasn't had an accident.  He's told us every time he needs to go, including waking me up in the middle of the night.  So proud of him!

3.  Sleepy snuggles from my little guy.

I'm no wussy cry baby girl!

I had a little problem with my arm today.  I'll skip the part of how it happened to protect the grandparent who is horrified by the accident, but let's just say don't ever pull a little munchkin like me by the arm.  Something bad happens when you do that. Let's skip to the part where my arm didn't work.  My poor unnamed grandparent didn't even notice I had a dummy arm for an hour or so.  Why?  BECAUSE I'M NO WUSSY CRY BABY GIRL THAT'S WHY!  Arm, shmarm.  I got two of them, so why cry?  I can make do and play with my good arm.

My poor grandparent called Mommy saying what happened and Mommy rushed to get me and take me into the doctor's.  When Mommy was driving she told me that Dr. Q would fix my arm.  I immediately told Mommy, "NO!  Dr. Q not fix the arm!  Use this one!" and I offered up my good arm.  I went and saw Dr. Q two days ago, and I wasn't about to let that beezy anywhere near me!  I got 4 sharp things stuck in me when I went!  Forget that and keep your stickers lady, I'm not goin'!  I'll just survive with one arm, thank-you-very-much.  Mommy didn't think that was such a good idea though and kept on driving.  She told me I wouldn't get any shots, but I wasn't trusting that nonsense.  Doctors = no good things.  They deceive you with a room filled with cool little chairs, books, and toys and then out come the sharp things!  No way, no how.  I'm not goin'!

Mommy parked and we walked up to the Dr.'s office.  I still offered her up the good one trying to convince her I was really fine just having one arm.  She still didn't buy it.  We stopped to take a little video because Mommy knew Daddy would want to see my arm.  It was just hanging there, not sure what was so special about it.  I smiled big though for my "before" shot.

Really Mom, I don't need two arms, I'm fiiiine!  See, SMILING!

As soon as we walked in I was pulled in by the tempting toys and chairs and forgot all about where we were with the pokey things.  And then I felt something.  Fahties.  Uh-oh.  I had chones on and poop was on the way!  Mommy saw me pop a squat and took me into the bathroom speedy quick.  I wasn't feelin' the whole go #2 in a public restroom thing and tried violently to resist sitting on the potty.  I wasn't as strong as I normally am though since my lame arm just hung there and didn't help a dude out.  I could have used that thing to push myself off, or smack my Mommy away!  Hmm, maybe having two arms that work would be a good thing.  I decided to use the muscles I did have and clamp my little booty shut.  That poop would just have to wait until we got home.  As we came out of the bathroom I saw her.  That lady with the funny clothes that gave me those 4 ouchie things!  I tried to run away, but Mommy picked me up and we followed that mean old lady into a room.

I begged Mommy to go home and that I'd just "use this one, Dr. no fix arm".  Mommy and the mean lady told me I wasn't getting any shots again.  The lady put some thing on my head, which I again couldn't push away since my arm wouldn't work.  By this time I was changing my mind that I needed that dumb old arm.  The lady told us that Dr. Q wasn't in, but Dr. A would come fix my arm soon.  I occupied my time by taking pictures of me and Mommy.  I'm a pretty talented photographer even one handed!

I later learned this is Mommy's I hope the camera keeps him
from screaming bloody murder face

Mommy said she clearly needs Botox after seeing this picture

Then there was a knock on the door and in walked two men.  Dr. A had another doctor in training with him to demonstrate how to fix an arm.  Dr. A talked to Mommy all about what he thought was wrong with my arm.  Something about Nursemaid's elbow.  I'm not sure what a nursemaid is, but I know what an elbow is!  I kept on taking pictures and even got one of the doctor.

Mommy looks concerned in this one, I'm glad I didn't see her face

This is Dr. A who fixed my arm. He's a genius!

He then had Mommy take off my shirt and looked at my arms.  "Yup", he said to Mommy.  It was that nurse thing.  He told Mommy he was shocked that I wasn't crying hysterically.  Puhlease.  Who does this guy think he's dealing with?  I'M NO WUSSY CRY BABY GIRL!  I've got street cred to uphold.  I've got my sissy, and my 2 girl cousins that live here.  I gotta be the tough guy.  It's my job.  It's a job I take very seriously.  There's a ton of estrogen in munchkinland in these parts, and a guy's gotta hold his own.  Girls can smell weakness I tell you!

It took Dr. A a few tries to fix my arm, which involved twisting it and trying to snap it back into place.  I won't lie, that hurt like a mother and I did shed some tears.  Hey, I said I'm no cry baby girl but I am human.  Cut a guy some slack.  And then all of a sudden my arm worked!  Whaddya know?!  I had 2 arms again!  SCORE!  I gave my boys Dr. A and Random Guy a high five and fist bump, said thank you, grabbed a sticker, and headed for the door to blow the joint before the mean lady showed up with the sharp torture devices.  The ladies were fawning all over me on my way out commenting how brave I was.  I batted my eyes and gave them a smirk.  Puhlease ladies, it was nothin'. Even Mean Lady showed up to tell me what a brave little man I was.  I threw her my biggest smile and said, "See you later!"  Mommy whispered to me, "Tough guy and a lover?!  Killer combination Bubb.  You'll have the ladies swooning."   We stopped to take my after pictures and a video of my working arm.
Yeah, I know.  I'm like, totally brave.  The chicks dig that.

Look Mom, 2 hands!  It works! Winning!

The lesson I learned today is you really do need 2 arms, doctors aren't all that bad, don't let anyone pull your arm (give them your finger to pull instead), and being a tough guy can be exhausting.

It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.

Signed,
The Resident Tough Guy

PS. Mommy said the videos are taking too long so she'll add them tomorrow.

PS2. Unnamed Grandparent, it was an accident.  You're forgiven.  Just pay some mind that my limbs are attached and I've decided I should probably be able to use all of them.  xoxo

365 - Day 222

Day 217
1.  Friday, which made it a fabulous day in itself!

2.  Having a good girlfriend to chisme and pass time with.

3.  Creating good habits.

Day 218
1.  I spent most of the day with just the kids.  We ran some errands, went to the park, and then went shopping,  They were both extremely well behaved.  Can't ask for more than that!  Great day with the munchkins!

2.  Fun dinner out just the 4 of us.  We also ran into some friends at dinner on our way into the restaurant.  It's funny how small of a town it feels we live in, yet we rarely run into anyone.  (Which can be a good thing depending whom you run into! Don't want to be running into some crazies at  ToysRUs or Target.) It was a nice surprise to see such a sweet little family I adore out just as we were.

3.  Hubs and I finished watching "Mildred Pierce".  Great mini-series!  Kate Winslet does not disappoint.  Love snuggling up with my guy and watching a great movie.

Day 219
1.  Beautiful Palm Sunday service.  The kids had a ton of fun waving Palm branches at Mass.

2.  GORGEOUS weather!

3.  Elias has been really into doing chores lately, which is a huge plus!  Love asking him to pick up and he does it!  Not only that but he's been asking to help put the dishes in the dishwasher.  He loves putting in the soap and turning it on.  Love having 2 little helpers!

365 - Day 214

1.  Killer Pilates class today.  Be gone muffin top!

2.  Probably counterproductive, but I threw down some In & Out after Pilates.  I was STARVING and it hit the spot!

3.  Tonight during bedtime as Belle and I were both taking turns reading and giggling, she snuggled up close and said, "I love having fun with you!"  I couldn't agree more!

Monday, April 11, 2011

365 - Day 213

1.  Elias insisted on wearing "undawears" and not a pull-up this morning and that he's "notta baby, I a bigboy".  Could this possibly be the attitude we need to FINALLY get this boy completely potty trained?!  Fingers crossed!

2.  A good book.  Currently reading Black Heels To Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman.  I love a good love story.  I'm such a sap!

3.  Getting my hair did.  Buh-bye old lady hair!

365 - Day 212

1.  Elias is talking like crazy now and he has me laughing non-stop!

2.  I met my dear friend's gorgeous daughter Sage tonight.  Nothing as sweet as a newborn.  So happy for them and looking forward to watching her grow up.

3.  Yummy dinner and a night in with my guy.

365 - Day 211

1.  I took a 1 hour U-Jam class followed by a 1 hour Yoga class today and survived!!!  I went into the first class thinking it was Zumba, but it had been changed to U-Jam which is still high intense cardio but instead of salsa like dance moves it's more hip hop.  I was huffing and puffing and a ball of sweat, but I made it through and felt so proud afterwards!  Thankful my lungs cooperated and asthma didn't rear it's ugly head!

2.  A month or so ago I was feeling out of shape and so frustrated that whenever I attempted to exercise I'd end up in a coughing asthmatic fit.  I'm thankful I decided to take charge of my health and slowly start to find exercises that I was able to do. I'm getting stronger and I'm noticing changes.  Feeling good!

3.  Finished Two Kisses for Maddy by Matt Logelin.  I've been an avid reader of Matt's blog for a while now, and his book was just as good of a read as I expected.  It had me crying and laughing, and most importantly thankful for all that I have.

365 - Day 210

1.  Day off today just me and the munchies!  I love spending time with my kids.

2.  Today we ventured out shopping for Easter clothes, had a picnic lunch at the park, then hit up Cold Stone for a treat.  Best part of the day was as we were eating our ice cream Belle says, "You know what the best part of my day today was Mommy?"  I said, "right now?"  She said, "Yes!  But ask me why."  I said, "Why?  Because you're having your favorite ice cream with Gummy Bears?"  She said, "Nope.  Because I'm spending time with you!"  I LOVE MY GIRL!

3.  Pizza delivered for dinner & hubby putting the kids to bed.  Time to relax!

365 - Day 209

1.  First and foremost, Belle had her follow up appointment today with her Doctor for her swollen lymph nodes.  Her Doctor was very reassuring that they are going down and due to that horribly, nasty virus she had.  No need for an antibiotic of a biopsy.  All that we need to do is monitor to make sure they keep on shrinking.  Thank you God!!!

2.  Belle had a major meltdown in one of her dance classes tonight.  The thing about my girl is she's an absolute perfectionist.  If she doesn't get something PERFECT within the first few tries she gets furious with herself.  Tonight I'm thankful that she has such a wonderful teacher who handled the situation appropriately, and when Belle apologized for her behavior encouraged her and gave her a lot of sweet affirmations.  Great teachers are priceless!

3.  My boss let me take tomorrow off to spend with my kids on the last day of Spring Break.  Yippee!  Now to figure out what to do!

365 - Day 208

1.  I woke up SORE.  I'm talking really sore.  The Pilates class my friend and I took the day before definitely worked.  I'm excited for all the "hurts so good" ahead!

2.  My girl for excitedly asking me what chores she could help with. Score!

3.  Not only did Belle try something new for dinner tonight, but she loved it!  Hooray for a picky kid becoming an adventureous one!

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

365 - Day 207

1.  Dinner from Panda Express.  Delicious and I didn't have to cook.  I love to cook, but tonight I was not in the mood!

2.  I received 2 books today that I pre-ordered a while ago, and am so excited to read them! Both are from bloggers that I'm an avid reader of, Two Kisses for Maddy by Matt Logelin and Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond.

3.  Sore abs.  Went to my first Pilates class today.  I think it sums up to one word: KILLER.  Holy crap, talk about an hour of intense ab workout!  This class will absolutely help me get rid of the gut!

Thanks for the shirt Babe!

365 - Day 206

1.  Going to Yoga with my friend.  So nice to have a friend to take a little time out during the day to go have some stress-relieving-me time with.  I'm starting to notice a difference from exercising consistently both physically and mentally.  My asthma has been seeming to be under more control as well.  All good things!

2.  Elias and his expressions.  "SUPER COOL!" "AWESOME!"  He cracks me up!

3.  United States of Tara and a rice krispy treat.

365 - Day 200-205

Playing catch up from Quarter End.  I did jot down a few words every day so I'd remember what I was thankful for every day.  It was a rough week, and some days were exhausting so it was the little things I was thankful for.

Day 200
1.  As tiring as the day was, I pushed myself and got in a workout.  I felt very proud after that!
2.  Hugs from my babies.
3.  This day was one of the most tiring!  I was up making enchiladas for the following night until 11pm! After that I still had lunches to pack, bags to pack, etc.  I was SO thankful when I collapsed in bed that night!

Day 201
1. Enchiladas for lunch as I was stuck in my cube!  They were SO worth staying up late!
2.  ILs for coming over to watch Elias so Omar didn't have to do double duty as I worked late.
3.  My hubby for picking up the slack and being taxi dad as I was stuck at work.

Day 202
1.  Feeling on top of things during a stressful day.
2.  My sweet Isabelle and her tender heart.
3.  The first Quarter End in years where I was able to get home to my family at a decent time.

Day 203
1.  My Dad, for all that he is and does for our family.  So thankful that his knee surgery went smoothly.
2.  My 2 beautiful children for providing me with endless smiles and love when I need it the most.

3.  My faith and the strength and comfort it gives me daily.

Day 204
1.  Fabulous day, just me and the munchies!
2.  The joy puzzles, building castles, doing crafts, and making rice krispy treats can bring.
3.  The loot the Hubs brought home from Wondercon for me and the little burritos.  The kids both got super cute hats, and I was lucky to land a wicked cool t-shirt.

Day 205
1.  GORGEOUS day.  Perfect weather!
2.  Starting off the day getting physically centered with a Yoga class, and then spiritually centered at church with the fam.  Great way to start the day.
3.  Grilled burgers with a Jack Daniel BBQ glaze, YUMMY!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

I'm so, so, SO far behind!  Last week was Quarter End at my job, which means I come home late at night, usually with more work to do.  Once I've done that, and the domestic duties are complete, I collapse for a few precious hours of sleep with no time for blogging!  I'll be playing catch up for a few days I assume.  Not really sure who comes here daily, but from my stats, someone does!  Sorry for being behind!
